The collagen that gives our skin its youthful appearance reduces over time. To restore fullness, dermal fillers can be injected under the skin.
Dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid (HA). This is a sugar molecule that exists naturally in most living organisms. It binds with water to act as a lubricant and shock aborber in joints. It is also important for the transport of nutrients and for regulating water balance in the skin.
By boosting the skin’s supply of HA, dermal fillers revitalise and add volume to the skin. This instantly diminishes wrinkles and lines.
Our experienced injectors carefully place the filler to achieve a natural-looking result. The products we use gradually dissipate over time, so you do not need to worry about permanent change. Additional treatments can be used to maintain results.
Two weeks prior to treatment, you should avoid the following medications or supplements:
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS) e.g. Ibuprofen, Diclofenac
- St John’s Wort
- High doses of vitamin E (over 800mg per day)
If you are taking any of these to treat a medical condition, do not discontinue use without consulting your doctor.
We only use natural fillers, made of hyaluronic acid (HA). This substance naturally occurs in our bodies as a moisturiser and lubricant.
The products we use are clinically produced, so are never taken from an animal or human source. They are, however, tissue-friendly and made to closely resemble the HA in our bodies. Fillers are supplied to us as clear liquids or gels in single use sterile syringes.
Well known brands include:

Yes – dermal fillers are safe as long as they are administered by skilled practitioners with suitable training and experience. Treatments must be carried out only by trained medical professionals.
We only use tried and tested leading brands of dermal filler. These fillers have an impeccable safety record.
There are few risks associated with the use of dermal fillers, and even fewer long-term side effects associated with the temporary fillers used by Simply Aesthetics. Allergic reactions are rare and no pre-testing is needed with the products we use.
Dermal fillers have been used for cosmetic reasons for over 20 years and brands such as Restylane have been used in over 30 million treatments.
A local anaesthetic cream is applied to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. The filler is then injected just below the skin using a very fine needle.
Pain relief is not normally necessary when using dermal fillers to treat wrinkles. Sensitive areas such as the lips may be more tender.
At Simply Aesthetics, we feel it is important to make any treatment pleasant. For this reason, we apply local anaesthetic cream prior to any filler treatment. For a more comfortable treatment, we only use dermal fillers which have local anaesthetic included.
The treatment will take between 20 and 40 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
Fillers have an immediate effect, so results can be seen instantly.
One of the great advantages of dermal fillers is that they are long lasting but not permanent. The filler used will naturally dissipate over time.
A number of factors such as age, the area treated, skin care and lifestyle will impact on how long the results last. However, the range of dermal fillers on the market are proven to last for up to one year in nasolabial lines and for up to six months for lip enhancement.
To maintain results, follow-up sessions are recommended every six to twelve months depending on the treatment and individual. We will be happy to discuss a schedule of treatment to suit you.
Some mild bruising may occur. Symptoms are minor and will not affect you from returning to normal daily life. You can even apply make-up straight away.
Bruising may take a few days to vanish. Arnica cream and tablets together with cold compression are effective in aiding a speedy recovery.
To maintain results, most clients will require two treatments a year.
