Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that usually affects the face. People may mistake rosacea for acne, eczema, or an allergic skin reaction. Rosacea can appear as erythema (redness), acne, and small pustules. This can be very sore and can be accompanied by flare-ups, flushing, spider veins, soreness, changes in skin texture, red bumps and sensitivity.

Flare-ups can be triggered by a number of factors such as

• exposure to sunlight

• stress

• strenuous exercise

• hot or cold weather

• hot drinks

• alcohol and caffeine

• certain foods, such as spicy foods

• Menopause

• Medications

• Certain skincare products containing AHA’s, Glycolic, Salicylic Perfume and essential oils

Although there is currently no cure for rosacea, lifestyle adaptions, correct treatment and maintenance can relieve symptoms.

These include

• Minimise stress

• Avoid overheating, even during exercise

• Simplify your skincare routine

• Opt for mild foods

• Opt for cold beverages

• Limit alcohol intake

• Protect your face from wind and cold

• Use skin products designed to soothe and manage flare ups

I have selected products that I feel are particularly beneficial to rosacea sufferers, which can be used alongside, or to replace your existing skincare regime.
